Free SEO tools worth using (and what each one is best for)

You can do a lot of SEO without paying for anything. These are free tools I would set up first. Free limits change over time, so check each tool’s current plan.

Google Search Console
Shows which queries bring impressions and clicks, which pages are indexed and what errors exist. This is the most important free tool.

Google Analytics
Shows how many people visit, where they come from and what they do on your site.

Bing Webmaster Tools
Similar to Search Console for Bing. It is quick to set up and can import your Google settings.

PageSpeed Insights
Tests page speed and Core Web Vitals and lists what to fix.

Google Trends
Compare how interest in topics changes over time and by region. Good for choosing what to write about.

Google autocomplete and “People also ask”
Free keyword ideas straight from real searches.

Screaming Frog (free version)
Crawls up to 500 URLs and finds broken links, missing titles and redirect problems.

Google Business Profile
Free and essential if you serve a local area.

Tip: set up Search Console and Analytics first. They start collecting data from the day you connect them, so the earlier the better.
